Wildlife Explorers Club at East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve

Wildlife explorerBecome a wildlife explorer for the summer and join us on Tuesdays to discover more about  the wildlife of the reserve.

Tuesday afternoons 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Meet at the Woodland Centre, East Dartmoor NNR, Yarner Wood, TQ13 9LJ, unless otherwise stated. Follow the brown signs from Bovey Tracey.

Tues 28th July: All plants big and small

Tues 4th Aug: Big bee hunt

Tues 11th Aug: River dipping at Pullabrook Wood. Meet in the car park by Drakeford bridge.

Tues 18th Aug: Minibeast safari


Wildlife Explorers: Bats

Tuesday 25th August: 7:30pm – 9:30pm

Meet at Lower Trendlebere car park G.R. SX784793. Follow the brown signs for East Dartmoor.

We’ll guide you around the reserve at dusk in search of some of our resident species of bat using bat detectors to hear them call. This walk is family friendly and is aimed as an introduction to bats for beginners. Please come suitably dressed for a walk on Dartmoor, bring a torch to help see the path and insect repellent if you need it. The walk covers about 2 miles at a leisurely pace.
