Is it a bird … ?

chicken of the woods

chicken of the woods

A spell of sunshine brought the Fingle woodland birds out in force today, foraging to feed their young. Dippers and wagtails were busy on the river and a pied flycatcher was seen near the weir. Chicken of the woods was found growing on a goat willow – not a bird but an interesting and colourful addition to the diverse spring wildlife.
There was a cuckoo in the woods too – if you hear or see one please report your sightings to Devon Birds
