A veteran tree amongst the conifers

David Rickwood, Site Manager for the Woodland Trust was out earlier this week in Fingle Woods with The Conservation Volunteers led by Matt Gare when they came across this large veteran oak tree which is reckoned to be about 250 years old. It has a girth of 13-14′. It was found in a jungle of Western Hemlock and after a few hours clearing it was given some space to breathe.
